Wellington Point

A bayside suburb located about 26 kilometres east of the Brisbane CBD in the Redland Shire, Wellington Point is one of the older suburbs of Brisbane. The area boasts houses dating back to the 1800s including Wheystead Manor on Main Road. Like other bayside suburbs of Brisbane, Wellington Point has seen an increase in both popularity and property prices over the past five years with the suburb having recorded excellent price growth. Development in the waterfront suburb has been strong since the re-introduction of the passenger rail service to the suburb in the 1980s. Although the suburb increasingly attracts investors, the majority of purchases are still by owner-occupiers looking for the quiet Redland Bay lifestyle. Wellington Point contains a community shopping district located along Main Road and the suburb itself is a popular day-tripper destination for Brisbane and Redland residents who are attracted to its bayside location. Recreational amenities in the suburb include boating ramps and picnic parks overlooking Moreton Bay, with barbeque facilities and play equipment. There are a number of sporting facilities in the area, including sports ovals and the Redlands Sporting Club within the EGW Wood Sports Ground and several more ovals within Judy Holt Park.
