Springfield Lakes

Located in the Ipswich City council area, Springfield Lakes includes 17 distinct villages spread over a 25-hectare area and is part of Australia’s largest master-planned community Springfield. The Greater Springfield Region incorporates Springfield Lakes residential (being developed by Delfin Lend Lease), the Brookwater Golf Course and Residential Community, the Gateway CBD (being developed by Springfield Land Corporation) and the original Springfield residential areas. It is anticipated that 800,000 people will eventually call the region home. Springfield Lakes offer a wide variety of homes including prestigious properties surrounding the three lakes that will be the centre pieces, and no doubt much-loved community assets, of the suburb. The area offers land blocks with new homes for a price that is affordable compared to nearby Brisbane. And as such in recent years, Springfield Lakes and nearby Springfield, have attracted numerous residents out of Brisbane, particularly first home buyers, young couples and those looking for a quieter lifestyle. A wide range of clubs and facilities are now in place in the greater Springfield area, with more planned including the new Waterworx Aquatic Centre and new world class Golfing Range in Brookwater. Bordered in part by the Centenary Highway, Springfield residents also have easy access to their jobs or recreational pursuits in either the Brisbane CBD (30 minutes) or the Gold Coast (one hour). As with many master-planned communities, Springfield now offers its residents its own primary and secondary schools, as well as retail facilities. The University of Southern Queensland opened its doors in Springfield Lakes in 2006 offering undergraduate and postgraduate course. The Bremer Institute of TAFE also has a campus in the suburb.
